DO COPY ALL THE IMPORTANT FILES

Every international traveler’s nightmare is losing a passport. Do not worry! losing your passport doesn’t mean you will be stuck here forever. Passport loss is a thing that might happen on your unlucky day so do prepare a photocopy of your passport or any ID that might help you to go to the embassy to take care of it. Even if you are in a rush before leaving, don’t forget to make copies. You will most likely go to the police station to fill out a police report. It will take a whole day and then not to mention you have to go to the embassy after directly by yourself. So please, take care and check your belonging before you leave any place if you don’t want to be trapped on this island

DO TRY LOCAL CUISINE AND TRY ARAK BALI

Maybe some traveler will choose a safe zone in choosing foods with no known language, nutrition and what kind of food. However, get rid of that feeling and explore. Ask local people if you don’t know what food is, they will be happy to explain. If you have allergies, let them know before they ask because you never know what consists of the food. For the first-timer, you might try the local food in the proper restaurant to prevent Bali belly since not every street food in Bali is clean and hygiene. Do prepare for the medicine as well in case you get sick. You can find in our blog as well HOW TO PREVENT BALI BELLY 😉 For the drinks, do try the local alcohol drink called Arak compared to imported one. Arak is made of distilled spirit made of coconut or rice. You can find Arak cocktails in every restaurant since they taste really good. Give a try !

DO RESEARCH BEFORE LEAVING AND EXPLORE BALI

Before leaving, try to research either in Google, the media, Facebook or Instagram for places that tourists must visit. By doing research, you can make a where-to-go list from areas to areas for the day so you aren’t confused about going back forward from place to place. Bali is so small yet the traffic is also crazy especially in the high peak season. So a great to go list must be prepared if you don’t want to waste your day by being stuck in traffic for a whole day. Be aware of any local habits that might be different from your own. You want to get a memorable trip, not being remembered by a bad mannered tourist. Do not, however, limit yourself only to those obvious locations. Try asking some young-explore people, they will help you to give you a hidden gem of Bali. The hidden place might have a bad road, however it will be worth it. You have to explore !

DON’T WASTE YOUR DAY TAKING A NAP

You might feel tired after a long flight and transits. Especially if you took an overnight flight that might be uncomfortable to get your sleep. If you ever think about taking a nap after you arrive, I think it is not a good idea. However, do not spend your first day sleeping. You might take a quick sleep 30 minutes to 1 hour then go prepare for your where-to-go list! Force yourself to go and explore from the nearest place for the first day and at the end of the day you will feel tired so you can sleep on the local time and it would be one of the ways to prevent jet lag. You will wake up in the morning with a fresh body and ready to explore a new day!

DON’T OVERDRESS

If you are walking around in Bali mostly you will know which one is the tourist and which one is the long-stay person by their appearances. Even if Bali is known as a safe island, however, it is still possible for thieves to strolling around Bali. Tourists with a fancy and perfect style from head to toe might be the first main target for the thieves to rob, scam, or overcharge the market seller. Just wear a normal and comfortable shirt and shorts or leggings to explore. Your shoes are the most important thing, use comfortable sneakers or sandals so you won’t spend your day complaining about the blisters.
